Brandon Research Fellowship in International Law 2017-18

The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law invites applications for the Brandon Research Fellowship 2017, which continues to be funded by a generous gift, made in 2009, by Mr Michael Brandon (1923-2012)

Fellows from around the world are eligible to apply for this fellowship but preference will be given to candidates who are nationals of members of the European Union; members of the Commonwealth; Argentina; Brazil; Chile; China; Japan; Panama; Serbia; Switzerland; and the United States of America.

Course Level: Fellowship is available to pursue research programme

Study Subject: Fellowship is awarded in the field of International Law

Scholarship Award: The Brandon Fellowship is intended to cover a stay of a minimum of one acceptance period (approximately 12 weeks) at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law and has a maximum value of £4,500; any additional travel or other expenses will be the responsibility of the selected Fellow

Brandon Research Fellowship 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for this scholarship:

The Brandon Fellow will undertake a project on some aspect of public or private international law or international arbitration while based at the Lauterpacht Centre.

Candidates must specify a project in their application. Candidates working in areas connected to LCIL fellows’ projects and activities are given particular consideration.

Fellows must produce a report of their work in English at the end of their Fellowship and deposit with the Lauterpacht Centre any publication resulting from the work undertaken during the Fellowship. The support received from the Brandon Research Fellowship at LCIL should also be acknowledged in the publication

Candidates must be fluent in English and at least one of French, German or Spanish
Preference will be given to candidates who are nationals of members of the European Union; members of the Commonwealth; Argentina; Brazil; Chile; China; Japan; Panama; Serbia; Switzerland; and the United States of America

Brandon Research Fellowship 2017 Application Procedure

Candidates submitting their application by post and also via e-mail
Applications should be submitted in accordance with the guidance notes and using the application form below
The application should consist of the following: (a) completed Application Form (including an outline of the proposed research); (b) a curriculum vitae (maximum four pages); ©two letters of reference
All documents should be prepared in English. Applications must be received by Tuesday 21 March 2017. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered
