1. What is UGC NET? What is it for?

 

The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET or CBSE NET, is a test to determine eligibility for college and university level lectureship and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals. It aims to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in teaching professions and research.

3. How can I get UGC NET Certificate

 

Once the results are announced, e certificates are provided. You can download your e certificate form official website provided. You have to Login using the email id you provided while applying for the NET and password (if you are already a member otherwise create an account).

 

4. How many times can I appear for UGC NET

 

For JRF, only three attempts are allowed. But for lectureship of UGC NET there is no maximum number of attempts.

8. What is e certificate in UGC NET ?

 

University Grants Commission issues e-Certificates within 6 days of Result Declaration. Earlier, the UGC used to take long duration of 7-8 months to release the NET Certificates but keeping up the students’ requirements in mind, the HRD Ministry has now started an e-portal through which the qualifiers can get their certificates within only 6 days after the Results Declaration.

 

9. What is the qualifying criteria for UGC NET ?

 

UGC has decided that 6% of the candidates appearing for the NET Exam will be declared as qualifying to be eligible for the entry level post of Assistant Professor and the Reservation Policy as per the category will be applied to this 6% qualified candidates. Top 6% of the candidates who take the exam (all three papers) and score minimum 40% aggregate marks (at least 35% aggregate marks for candidates belonging to social groups viz., Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer)/ People with Disabilities) will be eligible for Assistant Professor. 11.    What to do after clearing / passing UGC NET ?

Makes you eligible for applying to faculty positions in colleges and universities operating in India, If you want to boost your chances of getting a tenured faculty position, you will have to earn a research degree (M.Phil or PhD) and publish some good research papers. UGC has changed the minimum qualifications required to get appointed as teachers and other academic staff in colleges and universities. Not only Ph.D. is made mandatory for the post of the associate professor, there is a minimum requirement of 55 percent in your Masters to get the recruitment. 

 

12.  When to apply for UGC NET 2018 ?

       This year the Candidates can apply online for UGC NET from March 6 and last date for application is April 5, 2018. After Masters degree having secured 55% marks you can apply for UGC NET.

17.  Is there any age limit for UGC NET exam?

18.   What is JRF in NET?

It is the Junior Research Fellowship. Junior Research Fellowship is a fellowship (Rs. 25000/Month) offered by both CSIR & UGC to the eligible and selected candidates through written exams held twice a year as their stipend for doctoral studies or for their assistance in various projects.
