Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, the Union Human Resource Development Minister on May 5, 2020, Tuesday announced the revised exam dates of Joint Entrance Exam – Mains (JEE- Mains) and National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 while conducting a live interaction session on his official Twitter handle. The students as well as parents from all over the country joined the Minister for this live interaction. Apart from Twitter, the interaction was live streamed on Facebook as well. The Minister addressed many queries of those students who participated.

Earlier, the Ministry had announced that it would reschedule both National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 as well as JEE- Mains exams after the lockdown was announced all over the country owing to Corona virus pandemic fears. Due to this, several Engineering and Medical students were left in confusion.

In his interaction, the minister said that JEE (Main) 2020 exam process will be starting from July this year. The new academic session would start by August 2020. The authorities will be conducting the JEE Mains 2020 exam between July 18 to 23, 2020. The JEE Advanced will be held in August. The NEET 2020 will take place on July 26, 2020. The dates for the release of  admit cards of these exams have not been announced yet.

This was the second such interaction between the Union HRD Minister and the students. Although it was scheduled to take place on May 2, 2020, due to some unknown reasons it was postponed for today i.e May 5, 2020. The first interaction had taken place on April 27, 2020. In that session also the Minister had addressed some of the critical questions that were asked by both parents and students.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is the official in- charge for conducting both NEET 2020 and JEE (Mains) 2020. According to data released by this agency, over nine lakh students had registered for JEE Mains 2020. Similarly, for NEET 2020, around 16 lakh students have registered.
