NTA may postponed NEET and JEE Main 2020 exam further
After immense pressure from students demanding a postponement of the NEET-UG and JEE (Main) exams, the government is planning to push back the dates for the key medical and engineering entrance tests amid a rise in coronavirus cases across India.
The HRD ministry is expected to announce a postponement of these exams after the Supreme Court’s hearing over the pending CBSE Board exams on Tuesday. CBSE has been asked to take a final call on the pending board exam by June 23, 2020. In the wake of the order, the Board is expected to present its decision in the court today.
As per the source from the education ministry, canceling NEET and JEE is not feasible. However the ministry is considering postponing them due to coronavirus pandemic. The new dates will be announced only after reviewing the prevailing conditions.
The source also added that if the institutions are forced to remain closed for the month of July and first half of August due to the increase in Coronavirus cases, it will not be possible to conduct the exams as for NEET-UG schools and colleges serve as centers and therefore the invigilators will have to be there
Thousands of students have written to the National Testing Agency, the body which conducts the entrance exams, demanding the same.
