JEE Main, NEET 2020 postponed, check  here for new exam dates

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Friday announced the postponement of JEE Main 2020, NEET 2020 as well as JEE Advanced 2020. As per the announcement, JEE Main will be held between September 1 to 6, NEET on September 13, and JEE Advanced on September 27, 2020. The Entrance exams have been delayed further by a month due to the unabated rise in COVID-19 cases.

This is the second time the entrance tests have been postponed due to lockdown imposed to constrain the spread of the COVID-19. Originally, JEE Main was scheduled between April 7 and April 11, and NEET on May 3 but JEE Main was postponed to July 18 and July 23 and NEET to July 26 due to pandemic.

As many as 9 lakh candidates have registered to take JEE Main and approximately 16 lakh for NEET.

The new schedule was announced on Friday after the inputs of the four-member committee headed by NTA Director-General Vineet Joshi.

The official from the ministry said, “The (public) support for further delay is overwhelming. Moreover, holding exams in July has become unfeasible since many of the test centres are falling in containment zones.”

With the postponement of the JEE Main and NEET 2020 exams, the admission process for IITs NITs, Medical & Dental colleges would now be pushed back till October. This in turn will pushed the new academic session to begin in November
