General eligibility is the first thing to be kept in mind:

The aspirant should be a Graduate in any subject. To apply, the age of the applicant should be between 21-32, if general category.

 

Your preparation should be aligned with the UPSC Civil Services Exam Cycle and dates, which has three stages – Prelims, Mains and Interview, which normally has a fixed schedule like June (for Prelims), Nov/Dec (for Mains) and March/April (for Interviews).

 

Your choice of subjects is also very important when you start the preparation of the IPS exam. What you like as a subject and what you actually excel in is very important to make choice of subjects because in the end your scores count, that’s all.

 

Time factor is important to consideration when you start the preparation for the IAS exam- comprehensively how months one needs to put in, – 10-12 months of aggressive preparation is a must. A vigorous time bound preparation is very important. A slow and delayed preparation is not the answer, you to set time goals. You will need to put in effective and ideal number of hours in preparation every day.
