Women allowed to take Entrance Exam for Admission in Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC)
The Supreme Court on Thursday has directed the Centre to take immediate steps to allow women to take RIMC Entrance Exam 2021 which is set to be held on December 18, 2021. SC has also directed the government to publish a modified advertisement within two days to seek applications from women.
A bench led by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul was hearing a petition filed by advocate Kailas Udhavrao More who has raised the issue of entry of girls to the RIMC Dehradun
Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati appearing for the Centre informed the bench that preparations for the December 18, 2021 exam were already at an advanced stage and urged to allow the entry of women into the RIMC for the year beginning from January 2023 and not June 2022.
However, the bench was not convinced with the decision of the Centre and ordered that girls be allowed to sit in the entrance exam this year itself.
RIMC Entrance Test is an All India Competitive examination conducted for admissions to class VIII in the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun (Uttarakhand). The examination is held biannually in June and December every year for admission in January and July Terms.
