National Board of Examination postponed National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2021

In view of a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has announced the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2021 exam which was scheduled to be held on April 18, 2021

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in his tweet said “In light of the surge in COVID19 cases, GoI has decided to postpone NEET PG 2021 exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on Apr 18. Next date to be decided later. Decision has been taken keeping the well-being of our young medical students in mind.” 

Due to an increase in COVID 19 cases across the country, thousands of medical students across the nation have been requesting NBE to postponement of NEET PG 2021. A petition has also been filed before the Supreme Court by doctors seeking postponement of NEET for postgraduate candidates.

The official notification reads, “Looking at the present situation of the pandemic and taking into account the safety and wellbeing of the students, it is decided that the NEET PG 2021 exam scheduled to be held on April 18, 2021, be postponed. The next date of examination would be announced after reviewing the situation later. A notice will be issued well in advance before the conduct of examination.” 

A total of 1, 74,886 candidates have registered for NEET PG 2021 exam. Out of the total, 24,360 registered for doctor of Medicine and 12,690 for master of surgery and 922 PG Diploma seats
