As an impact of COVID -19 outbreak, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, the organizing institute of JEE Advanced 2020 has announced that the entrance exam which was scheduled to be held on May 17, 2020 stands postponed and will be held after the JEE (Main) 2020 April session exam is conducted. 

The statement released by IIT Delhi reads – “JEE Advanced 2020, which was scheduled to be held on May 17, 2020 (Sunday), thus stands postponed and will be rescheduled after JEE (Main) 2020.” 

JEE Advanced is conducted for admissions to the undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor’s-Master’s Dual Degree in Engineering, Science, or Architecture offered by the 23 IITs all over the country. 

While JEE-Mains is conducted for admission to engineering across the country, it is considered as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced. The top 2,50,000 qualified candidates of JEE Main exam are eligible for appearing JEE Advanced exam. 

With this announcement, JEE Advanced has joined the long list of competitive examinations like NEET, JEE Main, KEAM, KCET, etc. which have been postponed due to spread of COVID-19 across the country.  

As per the data from Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of novel Coronavirus cases in India has risen to 2023 on Thursday morning including 58 casualties. 148 patients have recovered and been discharged.
