New Exam date for All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2020 announced

The Bar Council of India has announced the new exam date of AIBE 2020 (XV) on its official website. As per the notification released by Bar council, AIBE 2020 is scheduled to be held on November 8, 2020. Earlier the examination was scheduled to be held on August 16, 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19 Pandemic. 

The council has also extended the deadline for submitting the online AIBE 2020 application forms till October 24, 2020. Candidates interested to appear for AIBE 2020 and have not applied for it yet can do so through the official website.  The admit card for AIBE 2020 will be available for download from October 31, 2020. 

AIBE, is a national level entrance exam to test a potential advocate who wants to practice law in India. Candidates qualifying AIBE are awarded with certificates of practice (COP) by the council, which enables them to practice in a court of law in India.

AIBE is an open book exam conducted for a duration of three hours and thirty minutes. The question paper consists of 100 objective type questions from legal subjects. There is no negative marking in the examination. AIBE will assess skills at a basic level, and is intended to set a minimum benchmark for the practice of law. It addresses a candidate’s analytical abilities and understanding basic knowledge of law.

The council has also mentioned in the notification that, “Council reserves the right to extend the said examination date in case of unavoidable circumstances.”
