Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates intending to apply for the post of Probationary Clerk should ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria specified by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Ltd. in this notification
  • It is expressly clarified that the ultimate authority for recruitment is the Bank itself. The Bank may, in its sole discretion, reject the candidature of anyone.

Educational Qualification (as on 31.08.2023)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from any recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.

Age (as on 31.08.2023)

  • Must be not more than 24 years in the case of graduates; 26 years in the case of Post-graduates.

Age Relaxation

  • Two years for Most Backward Class (MBC) / Backward Class (BC) and 5 years for SC/ST Candidates


  • Preferable, but not mandatory


Application Process

  • Candidates can apply online only from 16.10.2023 to 06.11.2023 and no other mode of application will be accepted
  • Candidates should go to the Bank’s website click on the option “APPLY ONLINE” which will open a new screen.
  • To register an application, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and enter Name, Contact details and Email-id. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen
  • Candidates should note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password. An Email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will also be sent
  • Candidates are advised to carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application themselves as no change will be possible/ entertained after clicking the COMPLETE REGISTRATION BUTTON


Application Fee

Selection Procedure

  • Exam Structure: As per IBPS Probationary Clerk Standard (Single Examination)
  • Medium of Exam: English only
  • Mode of Selection: Will be shortlisted based on marks obtained in the written test and will be called for personal interview

Phase-I Online Exam

  • Reasoning Composite – 40 Questions & 40 Marks
  • English Language – 40 Questions & 40 Marks
  • Computer Knowledge – 40 Questions & 40 Marks
  • General Awareness (with special reference to banking) – 40 Questions & 40 Marks
  • Numerical Ability – 40 Questions & 40 Marks
  • Total – 200 Questions & 200 Marks
  • Time: Composite time of 120 minutes 
  • Medium of Exam: English Only

Phase-II – Personal Interview (English)

  • The Interview centres will be communicated in the interview call letter
