CMAT Exam Pattern


AICTE conducts National level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) twice a year for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE.

The CMAT is an online based test (Computer Based Test) which is will comprise of multiple choice questions (MCQs). AICTE has divided the test into four sections with 25 questions in each section, bringing the total number of questions to 100. Each question is of four marks.

There shall be negative marking for wrong answers; for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted Duration of exam will be 180 minutes.

A Trial test will be available for the candidates to have a feel of the online test and navigation functionality. Candidates are advised to go though them carefully to familiarize themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation. At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. No breaks will be given during the test.

    To apply for the test, students need to first register themselves on the website http://www.aicte-cmat.in. Online registration has started from 1st November, 2012 and will be continued till 2nd January, 2013 on website http://www.aicte-cmat.in .

    After registration, students will be given a choice of three cities for online examination in order of their preference.
