In every sentence we mention a person or thing. And then, we say something about that person or thing. The person or thing we mention is the subject. Whatever we say about the person or thing is the predicate.

Lesson 11 – Transitive and Intransitive Verbs

Look at these sentences … 1. The boy killed the snake. 2. All the boys played together.
In the first sentence, the action denoted by verb killed passes from the doer the boy to the object, the snake. The verb killed here is transitive. In the second sentence, the action is limited to boys only. There is no object so the verb played is intransitive.

A phrase is a group of words that makes some sense but not a complete sense. It does not convey a clear message or meaning and is only a part of the sentence.

Lesson 13 – Singular and Plural Nouns – 1

A noun that refers to one person or object is called a singular noun. A noun that denotes more than one person or object is called a plural noun.
