International and National Conferences

International and National Conferences – Field-specific platforms where live-in demonstrations of innovation and technology is a strong suit of the many industrial and academic giants of the nation. Participating in such global events will grant the students and faculty recognition and audience among the top professional bodies in their respective field of work. In this article we shall look into some of the critically acclaimed conferences, both national and international, taking place within the country and abroad as well:

International conferences:

ACS Symposiums:

  • American Chemistry Society (ACS) is one of the giants in the field of chemistry research and conducts a plethora of educational, research, entrepreneurship, internships, and more importantly international poster presentations and meet-ups. India is one of the partnering countries and is in high favor of the ACS community, which makes it one of its research hubs, for active development and transfer of innovations. ACS hosted its 2nd Annual Industry Symposium from 14th – 15th December 2017 in Mumbai, where professionals from industries and academic institutions across the globe gathered together to share their experience and research in the topic: “Global Challenges and Recent Advances in Biologics and Biosimilars”. Some of the major domains discussed under it where development in the field of Biologics, patent and research progress, and chiefly the conjugation of industry and academia in drug discovery and development. Some of the distinguished speakers who participated in the symposium were Dr. Harish Iyer (Senior Advisor at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation), Dr. Priti Hedge (Senior Scientist at Genentech), Dr. Matthew J. Toussant (Senior Vice President of Product and Content Operations, Chemical Abstracts Services) and many others from industry and academia alike. The deadline for the event was towards the first week of November for the student member community. It is, therefore, best to apply for a membership in ACS to get benefit from such platforms with concessions and other allowances, which are provided in ample amounts to each participant who is a member of ACS community. ICMPC conference:

  • International conference on Material Processing and Characterization (ICMPC) will be hosted for the ninth time in the country. The past few years, since its first emergence, has reflected an upsurge in publication and popularization of the tremendous scope of material research in the country. The previous editions of the event have been graced by established professional organizations and industries, where face-to-face interactions and troubleshooting were made possible among the participants. This opportunity provides the necessary platform for material and civil engineering students to develop their concepts and work with the distinguished. The main fields of innovation under the programme are advanced processing, material characterization, modeling and simulation, properties, performance, and device fabrication. The latest edition will be hosted by Gokaraju Rangaraju Educational Society (GRIET) Hyderabad, and will be convened by Dr. Swadesh Kumar, GRIET Hyderabad, Prof J. Paulo Davim, University of Aveiro (QS world rank: 531 – 540) Portugal, and Dr. Kaushik Kumar, BIT Mesra Ranchi. The programme is scheduled from 8th – 10th March 2019. The deadline for the submission of the papers for the presentation was on 12th January 2019, while late registration date was fixed on 10th February 2019. Some of the distinguished speakers include Prof. U. Ramamurthy, School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering NTU Singapore, Dr. Tejraj M. Aminabhavi, Research Director, Soniya College of Pharmacy, and Prof. Sandeep Chaudhary, Civil Engineering, IIT Indore, to name a few. The link to the event details is given below:

ICBBE 2019

  • The International Conference on Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (ICBBE) has been hosted in Mumbai from 7th – 8th February 2019, which is an international meetup of leading academic scientists, and researchers under a single umbrella to discuss potential innovative ideas and inventions in the field of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. The event was chaired by professionals and academicians from a plethora of internationally accredited institutes and research centers, which includes top-level universities like Harvard University, MIT, Yale University and one of the most important hubs of global research NIH. The best of the paper submissions from across the globe have been published in the Special Journal Issue on Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. International conferences in IITs:

  • The pioneer engineering institutes of the nation, IITs have contributed a lot in promoting resourceful international seminars and paper presentation conferences on a variety of topics. Some of the latest ones available are:

1. ICFMCF IIT Roorkee: The International Conference on Financial Markets & Corporate Finance (ICFMCF) is the fourth edition of its kind, which will be held in IIT Roorkee from 28th – 30th November 2019. The previous conferences were held in IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Kanpur since 2016. This programme targets highly competitive students and research teams to demonstrate their innovative activities and development in the field of finance and allied areas. This conference was born from the sheer efforts of the management schools within the IITs to develop a platform to provide young economists and business students an early opportunity to develop fruitful plans and bring it to the attention of the leading companies in the field. Some of the areas addressed for research are Trading, Banking, Payment systems, Cash management, Corporate Governance, and Funding. Along with the three IITs described above, the programme has tie-ups with IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Mandi as well. The event is co-chaired by Prof. Chaturvedi, IIT Roorkee, Prof. Anil K. Sharma, IIT Roorkee, and Prof. J.P Singh, IIT Roorkee. More details regarding topics covered and application are given below:

2. ICMPT IIT Madras: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras, is organizing the first International Conference on Mechanical Power Transmission (ICMPT) 2019 from 11th – 13th July 2019 in the home campus at Chennai. This platform will provide the much-required link between the industry and academia in order to convey ideas of novel technology and develop skills and knowledge among the rich community of Mechanical Engineering students of the country. Highly efficient face-to-face communications are promoted between the students and the professional community working in the field of Mechanical Power Transmission, where active presentations and seminars will follow suit. Some of the key areas of research focus are Engineering Gear components, Bearings, lubrication, Belt drives, Optimisation, etc. The last date for the submission of the abstracts was on 3rd February 2019.
