Calculate Square Root of Numbers Fast – in just 5 seconds

Yes, you can calculate square root of numbers fast. Don’t believe this – check out the video from Ruchika which tells you how to “calculate the Square root of numbers in Just 5 seconds”.

Here are the Steps on how you can Calculate the Square root of numbers fast – in just 5 seconds.

Calculate the Square root of a number in just 5 seconds

Shortcut to Calculate the Square root of a number in just 5 seconds

  • Memorize squares of 1 to 10. Step1
  • Divide the number into 2 parts. Keep the last 2 digits separate from the remaining number
  • Step 2 – The unit’s place digit of the number gives the unit’s place digit of the square root also. Check the number at the unit’s place and then see the squares of 1 to 10 in which the same number is there at the unit’s place.
  • Step 3 – Check the remaining number. Find the highest perfect square smaller than the remaining number. The square root of that number will be the ten’s place number of our answer.
  • Step 4 – Multiply the number at the ten’s place to the next number on the number line. Compare the answer to the remaining number. If remaining number is greater than product, the greater of the 2 numbers will come at the unit’s place and vice versa.

Calculate the Square root of a number fast –

Example – calculate the square root of 3364

  • Step 1 – divide the number into 2 parts – the last 2 digits separate from the remaining number. we get, 33 64
  • Step 2 – In the last 2 digits – (64 here) see the digit at unit’s place only i.e. 4. See the numbers whose square has ‘4’ in the unit’s place i.e. 2 and 8. So, the units place of the answer will have either 2 or 8
  • Step 3 – Check the remaining digits (here, 33) and find the largest perfect square smaller than it. The largest perfect square smaller than 33 is 25 which is the square of 5, so we get ‘5’ at the ten’s place of the answer.
  • Step 4 – to determine the unit’s place digit out of 2 and 8, we will multiply the ten’s place number i.e. 5 with the next number i.e. 6, we get 5*6 = 30. Compare 33 with 30, as 33 is greater than 30, the greater number out of the 2 options i.e. 8 will be selected as the number for the unit’s place. Hence, we get the answer as √3364 = 58
