Kevin De Bruyne was born on 28 June, 1991 to Herwig de Bruyne and Anna de Bruyne. While the former is in the oil investment business, the latter works as a petroleum engineer. He started playing football at the age of four in his hometown where he played for KVV Drongen in 1997, however left the club two years later due to the lack of infrastructure and proper training. Genk:
- Bruyne joined Genk in 2005 and was promoted to the first team squad in 2008. He made his official debut for the club in 2009, in a 3-0 defeat against Charleroi.
