The Full form of WIPRO is Western India Products. WIPRO is an Indian private limited multinational IT consulting and system integration Service Company. It was formerly known as Western India Palm Refined Oil Limited. It has its headquarters in Bangalore, India. Initially, it was established as a Sunflower oil and vegetable manufacturer company but currently it deals in system integration, IT consulting, healthcare, consumer care, lighting, etc.
WIPRO was established by Mohamed Hasham Premji, on 29 Dec, 1945, as a sunflower oil factory in a small town of Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district. Mohamed Hasham Premji was the father of Azim Premji, WIPRO’s current chief. After the passing of M.H. Premji, Azim Premji took over the business and drove it to the peak. He de-merges its non-IT businesses and formed a privately owned company named WIPRO Enterprises Limited since March 2013, to focus on core IT business.
At present, WIPRO is one of the largest IT consulting and System Integration Company in India with more than 1.5 lakh employees working for it. WIPRO has multiple divisions like: WIPRO Infrastructure Engineering, WIPRO Technology Services Limited, WIPRO Consumer Care & Lighting, and WIPRO GE Medical Systems Limited.
