UNDP currently works in more than 170 territories and countries with an aim to eradicate poverty and prevent exclusions and inequalities. It assists countries in developing leadership skills, policies, build resilience, and partnering abilities to sustain development results. The UNDP has its headquarters in New York City and is headed by an administrator who oversees a thirty six-member Executive Board which comprises both developed and developing countries. UNDP is working since 1951 in India, mostly in all areas of human development such as sustainable energy, livelihoods, systems and institutional strengthening, inclusive growth, energy, and resilience.
United Nations Development Programme focuses on 3 major areas which require different forms of support; to eradicate poverty in all its forms and dimensions, to accelerate structural transformations for sustainable development, and climate and disaster resilience. UNDP helped over a hundred countries every year to eliminate more than 67 thousand tonnes of ozone-depleting substances and also helped in reducing more than five billion tonnes of Carbon Dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions. UNDP is also a member of the Coalition’s HFC initiative. It has supported several feasibility studies and HFC emissions assessments in developing countries to tackle and control the use of dangerous HFC.
