The Full form of ONGC is Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. ONGC is an Indian Multinational Crude Oil and Gas Corporation of India. Its registered office is at New Delhi, India. It is a public sector undertaking that runs under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of the Government of India. ONGC was re-organized as a limited company under the Company’s Act, 1956 in February 1994.
It became a PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) and its name was changed to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). It is one of the largest oil and natural gas exploration and production companies in the country. It produces around 70% of India’s crude oil and around 84% of the natural gas produced in India. The Company has been given the Maharatna status in November 2010 by the Government of India.
In a government survey, it was ranked as the largest profit-making PSU in India for the fiscal year 2019-20. It is also ranked 7th among the top 250 Energy Companies globally by Platts. The products of ONGC include Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Motor Spirit, Ethane, High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Superior Kerosene Oil, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Aromatic Rich Naptha.
