The Full form of MRF is Madras Rubber Factory Limited. Commonly abbreviated as MRF, it is a private limited company and the largest Tyre manufacturing company based in India. The company is headquartered in Chennai, India and makes all types of tyres, most especially vehicle tyres, tubes, treads, etc. MRF (Madras Rubber Factory) was started in 1946 at Tiruvottiyur, Madras (now Chennai) by K.M. Mammen Mappillai as a toy balloon manufacturing unit. In 1952, the company ventured into the manufacture of tread rubber and in 1960.
it was incorporated as a private limited company. Currently MRF exports tyres to over 65 countries including Middle East, Japan, America, Europe, and the Pacific region. It presently has overseas offices in Vietnam, Dubai, and Australia. MRF started manufacturing of Nylon tyres for the first time in 1973. The products of the company include vehicle tyres, conveyor belts, paints etc. MRF manufactures different types of vehicle tyres. For example: two wheeler, cars, trucks, tractors, buses, light commercial vehicles etc. Under the Conveyor Belts segment, it manufactures in-house brand of Muscleflex conveyor belts.
MRF manufactures polyurethane paints formulations and coats for decorative, automotive, and industrial purposes. MRF also works in the areas such as MRF Racing, Motorsport, MRF Motocross and MRF Karting. MRF Pace foundation also deals in cricket and provides training to fast bowlers.
