The Full form of IMDB is Internet Movie Database. IMDb is an online database of information related to movies, actors, directors, televisions shows, biographies, reviews, video games, plot summaries, and related information. The information stored on IMDb comes from different sources such as film studios, filmmakers, and other official sources. Most commonly, the information is provided by IMDb users themselves. An additional message boards, fan feature was abandoned in February 2017.

Originally a fan-operated website, the database is owned and operated by IMDb.com, Inc., a subsidiary of Amazon. IMDb has a database of more than 6.5 million titles (including episodes) and 10.4 million personalities, as well as 83 million registered users as of January 2020. IMDb inspects the information before saving in its database. However, the website also recommends its users to report fake information or mistakes so that they can be corrected and the data accuracy could be maintained.

IMDb was first published by Col Needham on 17 October 1990, as a platform to share information related to movies. Later, when it is registered for a domain on 5 January 1996, it became a website and became a popular online platform to find news and information related to movies. In 1998, IMDb Ltd. became a subsidiary of Amazon, which also uses it for the advertisement of its DVDs and movies which it sells on its main website.
