AICTE is All India Council for Technical Education

The Full form of AICTE is All India Council for Technical Education. AICTE is a national level council for technical education and management in India. It is a statutory body of Government of India, under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. AICTE has the authority of planning and coordinating the development of technical education across the country. It provides the approval for institutions or colleges who run University affiliated Management and Engineering degree program.

It is the one and only authority in India to provide approval to open a new technical college. As per its charter, the AICTE accredits graduate and postgraduate programs under specific categories at the institutions in India. It is assisted by ten Statutory Boards of Studies, namely, PG and Research in Eng. and Tech., UG Studies in Eng. & Tech., Technical Education, Management Studies, Architecture, Vocational Education, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Information Technology, Pharmaceutical Education, Town and Country Planning.

The AICTE is headquartered in Delhi on the Nelson Mandela Road, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. It has the offices of the chairman, vice-chairman and the member secretary, plus it has regional offices at Gurgaon, Mumbai, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Vadodara, Bangalore, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram.
