Ear Nose Throat

 

The Full form of ENT is Ear Nose Throat. ENT, also known as Otolaryngology is the branch of medicine and surgery that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, throat, head and the neck disorders. So, an ENT specialist is a physician who is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of the ear, nose, throat and related body parts. The ENT specialists are also called ENTs, ENT doctors or Otolaryngologists. An ENT doctor treats variety of conditions, some of which are; hearing loss and ear disorders such as ear infection, dizziness and tinnitus, infections such as sinusitis and tonsillitis, allergies such as hay fever, seasonal rhinitis, congenital or acquired abnormalities such as deviated septum, cleft palate, drooping eyelids, loss of smell, difficulty swallowing, speech disorder such as hoarseness and laryngitis, tumors of the ear, nose and throat mouth etc. There are many subspecialties in Otolaryngology like otology/audiology, pediatric otolaryngology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, rhinology, laryngology, allergy etc. Otology/Audiology deals with the medical and surgical treatment of the ear and the nerve pathways linked with hearing and balance. Pediatric Otolaryngology deals in medical and surgical treatment of the ear, nose and throat in children. Rhinology includes the treatment of the nose and sinuses and the like.
