The full form of ED is Enforcement Directorate. It is an economic intelligence agency which enforces economic laws and fights against crimes related to the economy in our country. ED falls under the Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. It was established in 1956. Its headquarter is in New Delhi. The ED also has several zonal offices at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, etc. It also has sub-zonal offices in different cities. The department has been instrumental in implementing two crucial acts which are  Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002 (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act 1999 (FEMA).
