The Full form of CSS is Cascading Style Sheets. CSS is a style sheet language that is used to describe how HTML elements should be displayed in the browsers as a webpage. The website which has been created by the web designer using HTML will look dull without using Cascading Style Sheets. Basically, any HTML elements give the outer cover. It is a powerful tool used by web designers to change the design and how it should be displayed to control web pages.

CSS is designed primarily to separate the document presentation from the document content and it is supported by all browsers. It was developed in 1996 by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The term cascading implies the fact that you can apply multiple style sheets in CSS to a single web page. Extension that is used to save CSS files is “.css”. The CSS frameworks are pre defined libraries including Cascade Framework, Blueprint, Foundation and Bootstrap.

In CSS, a global style sheet can be used so that anyone can make some changes in the style consuming less time and without much difficulty. It also allows a person to optimize content for more than one type of devices. You can present an HTML document for different devices like cell phone, computer, and printer in different viewing styles.
