Central Industrial Security Force

 

 

 

The Full form of CISF is Central Industrial Security Force. CISF is a Central Armed Police Force which functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India. It is the largest industrial security force in the world. In its 132 battalions, it has around 170,000 personnel. As of September 2016, Sh. O.P Singh is the Director General of CISF. In 1969, CISF was founded under an act of the Parliament of India.

 

The primary purpose of CISF is to provide security to industrial units and critical installations such as power plants, atomic power plants and currency note presses. Apart from this, it also provides consultancy services to various private and government organizations. Its consultancy wing has many renowned clients such as IB Thermal Power Plant, TISCO, Orissa Mining Co. and NBRI.
