The full form of BHIM is Bharat Interface for Money. It is a mobile payment app which is connected with the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) for all the major nationalised banks in India. The National Payment Corporation of India had developed it and it was launched on December 30, 2016 as a part of the Demonetisation plan of the Government. It is a major step by the Indian Government to promote cashless transaction among the common people built over Intermediate Payment Service (IMPS) infrastructure. It was named ‘BHIM’ in the memory of Dr B R Ambedkar. The users can pay or send money easily with the help of BHIM app by entering unique UPI number. Currently, it is available on both iOS and Android platform from where it can be downloaded for free. It is available in 13 Indian languages.
