UGC asked Higher Educational Institutions for immediate implementation of Academic Bank of Credits

 
UGC urge HEIs for immediate implementation of Academic Bank of Credits – University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all the higher educational institutions including colleges, universities, and institutions across India  to immediately implement the “Academic Bank of Credits” according to the instructions given. 
 
UGC had previously notified about the establishment of Academic Bank of Credits in higher education, on 28th July, 2021. 
 
National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has developed the “Academic Bank of Credits” to avail the students the facility of having academic accounts, which will also be implemented in the on-boarding of higher educational institutions. The “Academic Bank of Credits” has been developed under the DigiLocker Framework. 
 
The steps UGC has asked the higher educational institutions to follow on urgent basis are –
 
i) Register the institution in the portal https://www.abc.gov.in/
 
ii) Upload all the necessary data of students credits obtained during or after the academic year 2021-22
 
iii) Create a hyperlink of the url of ABC website, on the respective homepage of the institutions.
 
iv) Ask the student to mention their ABC id in all exams.
 
“Academic Bank of Credits” is meant to store all the academic credit information earned by the students, virtually.
