Union Grants Commission revised rate of Fellowships/ Associateships effective from January 2023
The Union Grants Commission has revised the fellowship amount for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) and Post Doctoral Fellowship and other fellowship schemes. As per the notification on the official website, the revised fellowships will be effective from January 1, 2023.
The amount has been increased from Rs 31,000 to 37,000 for the first two years and from 35,000 to 42,000 after two years for the JRF.
The official notice on the website reads, “The University Grants Commission in its 572nd meeting held on September 20, 2023 considered and approved the revised rates of fellowship amount under the UGC fellowship schemes.”

* The enhanced rates of fellowship in the designated UGC Schemes shall be applicable for existing beneficiaries only.
The percentage for calculating house rent allowance, wherever applicable, will be based on the fellowship amount. As per the notification, the other terms and condition of the fellowships will remain same as per the UGC Schemes Guidelines
