A CBSE official while speaking to the media has stated that CBSE has increased Class X and XII Board Exam fees after a period of five years. It has been increased for students belonging to all the categories studying in CBSE schools across the country and abroad.

The board has applied this hike from the current academic year i.e. 2019-20. The students who will appear for Class X Board Exam usually register for this exam in Class IX itself. Meanwhile those who will appear for Class XII Board Exam, register for it during their Class XI tenure. The schools which have already registered their students as per the old amount have been asked to collect the fees again with a difference in amount.

If a student wishes to apply for an extra subject apart from five other subjects, then they will have to pay Rs 300 extra. The amount is the same for both General and SC/ST students. It was free for SC/ST students earlier while those belonging to General category had to pay Rs 150.
