The National Testing Agency has released a notification to inform Medical aspirants about the postponement of NEET (UG) 2020. As per the NTA notice, the exact date of the test will be announced only after an assessment of the situation in the country. The government has announced a countrywide lockdown till April 14 to restrain the spread of coronavirus.
NEET 2020 was scheduled to be conducted on May 3 throughout the country on offline (Pen and Paper) Mode.
NTA has taken the decision to postpone NEET 2020 after receiving a directive from the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry.
NTA Director-General Vineet Joshi said in a statement that, “In view of the hardships faced by the parents and the students due to Covil-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic, the NTA has postponed the ensuing NEET (UG) May 2020 examination scheduled to be held on May 3,”
He also said that “We are hopeful that we would get back to normal relatively soon. But for now, various ministries and examination boards are examining the scenario to evaluate the situation and that may necessitate any change in the schedule.”
The Admit card for NEET 2020 which was scheduled to be released on March 27, 2020 has also been postponed for a time being.
In the Statement Mr. Joshi also requested the parents to help their children to utilize this time for preparing for the examination.
