Delhi University reveals CUET admission policy 2022-23

DU Admission Policy 2022 – On Tuesday, DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh announced the newly released admission policy for Delhi University which will be based on the CUET entrance examination 2022-23. Yogesh Singh has clearly outlined the new admission policy of the university by mentioning all the details regarding subject choice and other criteria for admission.

Yogesh Singh has said that after the CUET result declaration, they will conduct an e-counseling where they will be admitting 30% more students so that if any percentage of students cancel their admission, the seats will remain saturated.

Till the previous year, Delhi University admission was based on class 12 board exam results. But from this year, except for the School of Open Learning and the National Collegiate Women’s Education Board, the admission to DU university will only be through the CUET exam

Regarding admission to Sports and Extra-curricular activities, Yogesh Singh has said that the trials will be restarted and certificates will also be considered along with the CUET results. The students must appear for a performance-based test along with CUET. The merit list will be made by considering both the CUET result (25%) and the performance-based test (75%).

Dean admission Haneet Gandhi has provided a detailed outline regarding subject choice and criteria for admission to various undergraduate courses. The first section of the CUET exam pattern has 2 parts, the first part contains 13 languages and the second part has 20 languages. As per mentioned by the Dean, students must appear in at least one language subject out of both these parts combined, to get admission to Delhi University.

The CUET exam pattern has 27 domain-specific subjects in the second section, whereas the third section is based on general knowledge (only for admission to the BA program).

According to Haneet Gandhi, scores in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology will be taken into consideration for admission to B.Sc courses. Though for admission in B.Sc courses, students must get 30% and above marks in any one language subject.

Admission to BA courses will be based on the marks obtained in any one language subject in the first section and any three subjects in another section of the CUET exam.

Regarding admission to BA(Hons) Economics at DU university, students must appear for the Mathematics test in CUET.  The merit list for the same will be decided based on the result in the chosen language, Mathematics, and any two subjects.

For admission to language programs, candidates will have to choose a particular language in CUET, though a test in any other language will also be considered, preferences will be given to those choosing a particular language.

For now, the students need to register to the official CUET website, and later they might need to register on the Delhi University website for e-counseling.

Replying to the question about the admission process to Delhi University, after the CUET exam is given, Singh said that colleges will be allocated to the students according to students’ preferences. The students will also be given the scope to revise their college preferences in the second round of counseling, in case they don’t get their preferred colleges based on their scores.

But what if several students get the same CUET score?

Singh said that in such cases, a tie-breaker formula will be applied to decide the admission.

According to the DU authority, admission to Delhi University will take 2-3 months approx, after which the qualifying candidates will be officially part of this prestigious university.
