CUET PG Mandatory for admission in Central Universities, UGC

Admission to PG Program in Central Universities to be based on Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET-PG) Scores

UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has urged all the Central Universities to take admission into Postgraduate courses on the basis of Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET-PG) from the next academic session i.e 2023-24. Till now, the CUET PG scores were not mandatory for admission. Universities across the country had the option of adopting CUET for admission to its postgraduate courses.

UGC Chairman M Jadadesh Kumar said, “As you are aware, CUET provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from North-East, rural, and other remote areas and helps to establish better connections with the Universities. A single examination enables the candidates to cover a broad outreach and be part of the admission process to various Central and participating universities.”

He also added that all central universities should join CUET-PG just as they have done for CUET-UG, it will enhance the opportunities for students across India to join India’s best universities.

Recently the UGC Chief has announced that CUET-PG will be conducted from June 1 to 10 for the academic year 2023-24 by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The registration and application process for CUET PG 2023 will begin from mid-March 2023.
