As soon as the month of March started, most of the students of Class 10th and 12th  were typically worried about their exams. Reason – their Board exams were about to start. After all, the Board exams are life changer exams for any student as it decides their future. 

 

However, as soon as the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic was announced all over the world, the government took the decision to delay the pending exams of Boards. 

 

What is Coronavirus Pandemic?

 

Shortened as COVID – 19, the disease originally started in the Wuhan province of China. Now it has spread all over the world to China, Italy, Iran, the US and Spain being the worst affected countries with the maximum number of casualties.

 

The symptoms of this disease are fever and cough followed by shortness of breathing. If reported on time, there is over 80% chance of getting recovered. Self – isolation is the best way to curb this disease. 

 

As COVID – 19 is a highly infectious disease that spreads easily from person to person, hence the government has announced the cancellation of those Board exams which are pending. The State Governments, in solidarity with the Central Government took the decision to cancel all the respective Board exams as well.

 

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

The Board had successfully conducted exams between 15 February and 18 March, 2020. However, the exams which were slated to take place from 19 March to 31 March 2020 stand cancelled. The Board officials will decide upon the new dates after further announcement from the Central Government.

CISCE Board Exams

On 18 March 2020, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations announced its decision to cancel ICSE and ISC Board exams as there was an increase in the number of victims being affected by the Coronavirus. These exams were supposed to take place between March 19 and 31, 2020. Further, the Board said that they will notify regarding the new dates in due time.

Haryana Board

After the Government announced a nationwide lockdown due to Coronavirus Pandemic, the Board of School Education, Haryana decided to postpone all the exams of Classes 10th and 12th so that the health of appearing students is not compromised. These exams were to take place from March 19 to 31, 2020. The officials will be making the announcement regarding rescheduling of the exam soon.

NIOS Board

Amidst the fear regarding Coronavirus pandemic, the National Board of Open Schooling (NIOS) announced the cancellation of its all Practical and Theory Exams for Secondary and Higher Secondary Board that were slated to take place this month from March 19 to 31, 2020. New dates will be announced by concerned officials soon.

Rajasthan Board

The Rajasthan Secondary Education Board announced its decision to cancel all the Board Exams of Class X and XII. The new dates will be announced separately. The following notice has been issued by the officials from the Rajasthan Board:

Secondary Education Board, Madhya Pradesh

In the state of MP, the Boards exams were slated to take place between March 20, 2020 and March 31, 2020. Due to the breakdown of Coronavirus disease, the officials announced to cancel these exams. Further instructions regarding the same would be issued by officials soon.

Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)

PSEB has cancelled all the exams of Class 5, 10 and 12 due to breakdown of Coronavirus pandemic. Due to this, the exams slated to take place from March 20 to 31, 2020 have been cancelled. The officials have released the dates of new exams as well. The exams of Class 5 will take place from April 1 to 3, 2020. The exams of Class 10 will take place from April 3 to April 23, 2020. The 12th exams will take place from April 3 to April 18, 2020.

 Amidst the 21-day nationwide lockdown, these exams may be postponed further. But till now no official notification for further postpone has been issued by the authority  

 

International Baccalaureate (IB)

The officials from IB Board have cancelled the Board Exams of Class X and XII that were slated to take place in the month of March due to Coronavirus Pandemic scare. The students of Class X will be promoted directly to the next Class. The students of Class XII will be passed on the basis of internal assessments.

Tamilnadu State Board Exams

Due to Coronavirus scare, the Education Department officials have cancelled the exams of Class X and XII. The exams were slated to take place between April 23 and May 17. New dates of these exams will be announced soon. 

 

Jammu Kashmir Board of School Education  (JKBOSE)  

After holding a meeting, the officials of JKBOSE announced that they will cancel all the Board exams of Class X and XII that were slated to take place in the coming days. New dates will be announced after further instructions. 

 

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE)

The officials from MSBSHSE have cancelled the last paper of Secondary School Board exams that was supposed to take place on March 22, 2020. New dates for this exam will be announced soon.

 

Karnataka SSLC Exams

The Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Exams that were slated to take place between March 27 to April 9, 2020, stand cancelled owing to COVID – 19 outbreak. The authorities will announce the new dates for this exam after further instructions. 

 

Kerala Board Exams

The officials from Kerala announced cancellation of all the exams that were supposed to take place between March 10 and 31, 2020 stands cancelled. New dates will be announced by authorities after further instructions. 

 

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) Exams

The Board exams of WBCHSE have been suspended till April 15, 2020. The exam had started on March 13 and were to conclude on March 27, 2020. New dates for the rest of exams would be announced later on. 

 

Telangana State Senior Secondary Examinations (TSSSE)

As the news of the Coronavirus outbreak was announced, the TSSSE officials on March 20, 2020 announced that the exams that were supposed to take place between March 19 and March 30, 2020 stands cancelled.  The authorities would decide upon new dates later on.

 

Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP)

The Board has announced the cancellation of Andhra Pradesh Board exams due to Coronavirus fear. Exams for Class X were to be held during this tenure. New dates will be announced as per further instructions.
