CBSE cancelled the Board Exam 2021 for Class 10 and Postponed the Board Exam for Class 12

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday after a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi where Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and other officials were present announced to cancel class 10 exams and deferring class 12 board examination 2021.

As per the notification released by the CBSE, Class 10 board results will be prepared on the basis of objective criterion developed by the board and the schedule of Class 12 exams will be announced after reviewing the situation on June 1.

Class 10 students who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams

The decisions regarding CBSE Classes 10, 12 board exams have been taken in view of the current COVID-19 situation

Several students, academicians, and politicians have demanded the cancellation of board exams amid massive spike in COVID-19 cases.

During the interaction with the education ministers and board officials, the Prime Minister reiterated that the well-being of the students has to be the top priority for the Government. PM Modi also stated that the Centre would keep in mind the best interests of the students and ensure that their health is taken care of at the same time their academic interests are not harmed.

Last year also some of the board exam papers were held during the pandemic, however, many were cancelled. Students who appeared for three or more papers were given marks based on the average of the highest marks obtained in any three subjects they have appeared for. While, the students who appeared for only two exams, the average of the two highest-scoring exams was considered.

The result for these students was also calculated based on performance in internal or practical or project-based assessment, especially for those who appeared for less than two papers was considered while marking them for the paper which could not be held.
