CBSE to allow students of Class 10 and 12 to appear in the improvement exam in the same academic year

As per the CBSE new rule, students of class 10 and 12 who are appearing for the CBSE Board Examination 2021, will get a chance to appear for improvement exams and upgrade their performance in the same academic year. Earlier, if a student had to improve their performance in board exams, they had to wait for a complete year and appear in the exam with the next batch.

As per the notification issued by CBSE, Class 10 and 12 students will have an opportunity to improve their performance in any one subject in the Compartment Examination, conducted immediately after conduct of main examination. The better of the two marks obtained in the subject will be considered for declaration of results. Candidates who will improve their performance will be issued combined mark sheets, as per the board.

But in case of more than two subjects, students would have to wait for the entire year and appear with the next batch like earlier.

The CBSE circular reads, “This permission will be made available to the candidates appearing in the 2021 examination and if they wish to improve their performance in any one subject, they may again apply in the Compartment Examination for appearing to improve their performance.”

The change has been made under the National Education Policy (NEP) which aims to make exams low-stake and offer multiple opportunities to students to improve their performance in board exams.
