H2 New MBBS Syllabus includes Ayush as Option

Ayush Course to be offered in New MBBS Syllabus – Good news for Medical aspirants. The Board of Governors (BoG)  is all set to give the option of choosing Ayush courses (Unani, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Yoga and Naturopathy, and Siddha) as an elective subject  course to the a undergraduate medical students from the academic year 2019-20.

As per the reports, in September 2018, the government dissolved the Medical Council of India and constituted the Board of Governors (BoG) to reinstate the medical regulator.  The BoG has given the approval to the new MBBS Syllabus in January and the implementation of the same will be form the new academics session beginning from August 2019. According to the information given by the Board official, the aim of this initiative is to familiarize future doctors with alternative systems of medicine. The 3 month  module will be designed by the Ministry of AYUSH

Dr V K Paul chairman of Board of Governors said, “It is to give a hang of the alternative systems of medicine to the students of allopathy. Ayush systems can play a great role in promoting preventive health. However, it will not be mandatory for medical students. ”

He also added that, the students will get to visit Ayush hospitals, attend outpatient departments (OPDs), etc.”
