HP Judicial Service Competitive Examination 2017 for Civil Judge (Junior Division) posts

 

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has issued notification for the HP Judicial Service Competitive Exam 2017 & HPPSC Recruitment 2017 for posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division). Eligible candidates can apply online on or before 5th January 2018 by 11.59 pm.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must be a citizen of India

Educational Qualifications:The candidate must be a holder of degree in Law recognized by the Bar Council of India

Desirable Qualification: The knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the State of Himachal Pradesh

Age Limits
The aspiring candidate must have attained the age of 22 years but must not be more than 35 years of age as on the last date prescribed for receipt of applications in the Commission’s Office i.e. 05th January 2018

Relaxation of Upper Age Limits

The upper age limit is relaxable by 03 yearsfor S.C. / S.T. and other prescribed reserved categories (OPRC) candidates of Himachal Pradesh.

Examination Fee
Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.400/- for General Category / General P.H. and Rs.100/- for S.C. / S.T. / OBC of H.P. by cash at any branch of Punjab National Bank, through a e-challan generated through the above website or by using Visa / Master Card /Credit / Debit Card

 

Application Procedure

Candidates are required to apply only through online mode by using the website www.hp.gov.in/hppsc. No other mode for submission of applications is allowed

Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above- mentioned website www.hppsc.hp.gov.in/hppsc// ; the candidates must ensure their eligibility in respect of Category, Age and Essential Qualification(s) etc. as mentioned in the advertisement to avoid rejection at later stage

The candidates should exercise due care while entering their Mobile Nos & Email IDs in the Online Application Form for immediate intimation with regard to their application
After filling-up the Application form, download the same and take the print on A-4 size paper and dispatch along with documents to “Controller of Examination, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Nigam Vihar, Shimla -171002”

The candidates should also write the name of examination viz. “Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services Examination, 2017″ on the envelope before dispatching it

 

Exam Pattern

H.P Judicial Services Competitive Exam consists of three stages:
1. Preliminary Exam
The preliminary examination shall be an objective type examination consisting of the following three papers of 100 Marks each
Civil Law-I
Civil Law-II
Criminal Law
Each paper shall be of one-hour duration and the examination in all the three papers shall be held on the same day. The preliminary examination will be held on 02nd March 2018

Main (Narrative) Exam
(i) Main Written (narrative) examination shall be held w.e.f. 30th March2018. The date sheet will be put on the website of the Commission. No individual intimation will be given
(ii) Each paper will last for three hours

Paper-I Civil Law-I: Code of Civil Procedure. Indian Evidence Act, Indian Stamp Act, Himachal Pradesh Courts Act, 1976 and Specific Relief Act. – 200 Marks

Paper-II Civil Law-II: Indian Contract Act, Hindu Law, Indian Limitation Act, Transfer of Property Act and H.P. Urban Rent Control Act.  – 200 Marks

Paper-III Criminal Law: Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Chapter-XVII (section 138 to 143) of the Negotiable Instruments Act, H.P. Excise Act-2011 as Applicable to the State of H.P., Wild Life Protection Act and Indian Forest Act200 Marks

Paper-IV English Composition: A Choice from three Essays on General Subjects
ESSAY: 100 Marks
Translation of Hindi Passage into English: 50 Marks
Total – 150 Marks
(The standard for the English paper shall be that of graduation examination of Himachal Pradesh University)

Paper-V Language (Hindi): Hindi (in Devanagri Script) No books prescribed. The paper of Hindi will comprise of the following:-
Translation of English passage into Hindi – 30 Marks
Essay in Hindi on any topic out of three – 50 Marks
Composition (Idioms and Corrections etc) – 20 Marks
Total: 100 Marks
(The standard for the language paper shall be that of Matriculation examination)

Viva-voce
(i) Candidates, who qualify the Main written examination, will be required to appear at such place, as may be fixed by the Commission, for a viva-voce test. The maximum marks for the vivavoce shall be 150. The marks obtained in the viva-voce will be added to the marks obtained in the Main written examination for purpose of selection of the candidates
(ii) The summoning of the candidates for viva-voce test conveys no assurance whatsoever that they will be selected or recommended. Appointment orders to the selected candidates will be issued by the Government
(iii) A candidate shall also be required to obtain at least 45% of the marks allocated for the interview, failing which he will be deemed to have not qualified the competitive examination

Note:
(i) No candidate shall be credited with any marks in any paper unless he obtains at least 40 percent marks in that paper, except Hindi language paper (paper-V) in which candidate should obtain at least 33 percent marks
(ii) No candidate shall be considered to have qualified the written test unless he obtains 45 percent marks in aggregate in all papers and at least 33 percent marks in language paper i.e. Hindi in Devanagri script

Preliminary Examination: 02nd March 2018

Result of Preliminary Examination: 15th March 2018

Main Written (Narrative) Examination: 30th March 2018
