Eligibility Criteria for SBI Clerk Recruitment 2019

(A) Essential Academic Qualifications: (as on 31st August 2019)

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Govt. Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31st August 2019
  • Those who are in the final year/semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if provisionally selected, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation exam on or before 31st August 2019



  • (a) The date of passing eligibility exam will be the date appearing on the mark sheet/certificate or provisional certificate issued by the University/Institute. In case the result of a particular exam is posted on the website of the University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the University/Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing
  • (b) Matriculate Ex-servicemen, who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force, after having completed not less than 15 years of service in Armed Forces of the Union are also eligible for the post. Such certificates should be dated on or before 31st August 2019


Age Limit (As on 01st April 2019)

  • Not below 20 years and not above 28 years as on 01st April 2019, i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than 02nd April 1991 and not later than 01st April 1999 (both days inclusive).

Relaxation of Upper Age Limit

  • SC/ST - 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) - 3 years
  • PWD (Gen/ EWS) - 10 years
  • PWD (SC/ST) - 15 years

  • Persons domiciled in J&K State during the period from 01st Aug. 1980 to 31st Dec. 1989 - 5 years


SBI Clerk Recruitment 2019 Selection Procedure

  • The selection process will consist of on-line test (preliminary & main examination) and test of specified opted local language.


Phase-I: Preliminary Exam

  • Preliminary Examination (online) consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1-hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:
  • English Language - 30 Questions, 30 marks and 20 Minutes
  • Numerical Ability - 35 Questions, 35 marks and 20 Minutes
  • Reasoning Ability - 35 Questions, 35 marks and 20 Minutes
  • Total - 100 No. of Questions and 100 Marks and Duration: 1 Hour
  • Each test will have a separate timing as mentioned above.
  • There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No minimum qualifying marks for individual subject as well as for aggregate (overall) are prescribed. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 10 times the numbers of vacancies. subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Exam from the list of all candidates arranged in descending order of aggregate marks scored.

Phase – II: Main Exam

  • The structure of main examination (online objective type) would be as follows.:
  • General/Financial Awareness - 50 Questions, and 50 Marks and 35 Minutes
  • General English - 40 Questions 40 Marks and 35 Minutes
  • Quantitative Aptitude - 50 Questions and 50 Marks and 45 Minutes
  • Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude - 50 Questions 60 Marks and 45 Minutes
  • Total - 190 Questions 200 Marks and Duration 2 Hours 40 Minutes
  • Each test will have a separate timing as mentioned above.
  • The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual i.e., English & Hindi. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer.


Pre-Exam Training

  • SBI may arrange pre-examination training at certain centres for SC/ST/XS/Religious Minority Community candidates in consonance with the guidelines issued by Govt. of India
  • Agartala, Agra, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Akola, Allahabad, Anantnag, Asansol, Aurangabad, Bareilly, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur(Ganjam), Bhopal, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi NCR, Dibrugarh, Ernakulam, Gangtok, Gorakhpur, Gulbarga, Guwahati, Hubli, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Itanagar, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kathua, Kohima, Kolkata, Leh, Lucknow, Madurai, Meerut, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, Panaji(Goa), Patna, Port Blair, Purnea, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Ri-Bhoi Samba, Sambalpur, Silchar, Siliguri, Shillong, Srinagar,  Tirupati, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam


Wait List:

  • A wait list of up to 50% of vacancies (State-category wise) will be maintained. Candidates will be released from this waitlist on quarterly basis against non-joining and resignation out of the current batch only, subject to the candidates securing minimum qualifying marks as may be stipulated by the Bank for selection.


Pay Scale

  • Rs.11765-655/3-13730-815/3-16175-980/4-20095-1145/7-28110- 2120/1- 30230-1310/1-31450. The starting Basic Pay is 13075.00 (11765.00 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates.



  • The total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre employee payable at Metro like Mumbai will be around Rs.25000/- per month inclusive of D.A., other allowances at the current rate and two additional increments for newly recruited graduate junior associates.
  • They will be eligible for reimbursement of various perquisites, provident fund, Pension under New Pension scheme (Defined Contribution Benefit), Medical, leave fare and other facilities, as per instructions of the Bank as may be issued from time to time


Probation Period

  • Selected candidates will be governed by the terms and conditions of the Service Regulations of the Bank in force at the time of joining. The newly appointed Junior Associates will be on probation for a Minimum period of 6 months.

  • SC / ST / PWD Rs. 125/- (Intimation Charges only)
  • All others Rs. 750/- (App. fee and intimation charges)
  • Fee/Intimation charges once paid will NOT be refunded on any account nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
  • The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.
  • On successful completion of the transaction, e-receipt and application form will be generated; which may be printed for record. The printout of the application form is not to be sent to the Bank.
  • If the online transaction is not successfully completed, please register again and make payment online.
