Establishment
National Institute of Technology Raipur (Formerly Government Engineering College Raipur), situated in the capital of a newly incepted state of Chhattisgarh, has proven to be “avant-grade’ in the field of science and technology over past few decades in this region. With sweet memory of foundation ceremony by our president Hon’ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 14th September 1956. the institute started with two departments namely Metallurgical and Mining Engineering. Later the inauguration of the Institute building was done by our Prime Minister Hon’ble Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on 14th March 1963. From 1st December 2005, the institute has become the National Institute of Technology.

Admission Process
For all B.Tech courses the candidate should have passed a schooling of twelve years under 10+2 system or have an equivalent qualification (diploma). (S)he should be a bonafied resident of the state or nominated student of other states. He has to qualify in the AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) conducted by the CBSE.
M. E./ M. Tech. Programs This is a two year duration course. The candidate should be graduate in the field of science or engineering and should fulfill the eligibility requirement as required by the respective disciplines. He should have a valid GATE score and should obtain a place by merit in the respective course.
Master OF Computer Application (M. C. A.) This is a three year post graduate course containing six semesters. The candidate should be a graduate of science and should secure a position is merit list of All India M. C. A. Common Entrance Test conducted by the MHRD GOI.
