Establishment

Established in 1906, the Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun, is one of the oldest institutions of its kind, and acclaimed the world over.

On the basis of recommendation of the UGC, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Government of India) declared the Forest Research Institute to be a Deemed University vide its notification No.F-9-25/89-U-3, dated 6th December,1991.

Admission Process

FRI-University conducts a all India entrance examination for admission in its all three M.Sc. and two PGD cources.The notification for entrance test is generally published in the leading newspapers including the Employment News sometime in the month of January, 2007 and the test is held in the month of May, 2007 Candidates are selected in order of merit on the basis of aggregate marks secured at the written test in the Entrance Examination. 15% and 7.5% of the seats are reserved for SC & ST candidates respectively, who fulfill the minimum admission requirements in general category seats. The reservation to OBC will be provided as per the policy of the Govt. of India. Admission announcement and the Information Bulletin can also be downloaded from the website www.icfre.org.  The application forms can also be filled up online on the website www.fri.res.in .
