Validity of Teacher Eligibility Test Certificate extended for lifetime by NCTE

National Council for Teacher Education, NCTE has extended the validity of Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET and TET) certificate for a lifetime. Earlier the validity of these certificates was till 7 years from the date of issue of certificate.  With this move, candidates who have qualified the CTET and TET examination can now apply for teacher recruitment through their lifetime.

The decision to extend the validity was taken during the NCTE’s General Body 50th Meeting held on September 29, 2020.

The statement released by the Council on October 13 reads, the Council considered the agenda item and approved the validity of the TET certificate changing it from 7 years to the Lifetime. This provision would have a prospective effect and for those who have already passed out (already having TET certificate), NCTE would take legal action and will act accordingly.”

The dates from when this extension would be applicable have not been announced yet. As per reports, the respective states and boards will notify the implementation of such decision after the NCTE officially notifies the same.

Meanwhile, Exam date for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2020 has not been released yet. CBSE in its statement had said that they will announce the exam dates when it’s conducive to conduct the exams. This year more than 10 lakh candidates have registered to appear for the CTET examination. The examination will be conducted in 112 cities across the country.
