AICTE released the revised Academic Calendar for Technical Courses for 2020-21 session
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) released the revised academic calendar for the academic year 2020-21 in the wake of the new UGC guidelines regarding examinations and the COVID-19 outbreak. AICTE has revised its academic schedule twice in three days.
The official statement released by AICTE reads – “The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued revised guidelines on examination and academic calendars for all universities, in view of the COVID-19, on July 6. All the AICTE approved institutions/universities are requested to follow UGC revised guidelines on examination.”
As per the new academic calendar, the classes for existing students in technical courses will begin from August 17, 2020, while the classes for the new academic session will begin from October 15 including those through the lateral entry in the second year. The academic session for PGDM or PGCM (new students) will begin from 10 August, while the classes for existing students of these courses will start from 15 July 2020.
The first round of counseling for allotment of seats will be completed by 5 October, while the second round will conclude on 15 October, 2020. The last date for admitting students for the new academic year is October 20, 2020.
AICTE has asked its institutions to postpone the classes if they have already commenced and also asked them to hold special classes for those students who are left to take the final year exam.
