AICTE Revised Academic Calendar 2020-21 released

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released the revised academic calendar for the 2020-21session on its official website aicte-india.org. As per the revised calendar, the admission to first year engineering courses can be done till November 30, 2020 and the new session for the engineering courses will begin on December 1, 2020.

The revision of the council’s academic calendar has been done due to COVID -19 pandemic outbreaks and its follow up lockdown

As the official notice released by AICTE reads, “Due to prolonged emergent conditions in the Country and requests from various State Governments and ongoing admission process of llT’s and NIT’s, the Council has extended the last date of admission to first-year Engineering courses (UG and Diploma lateral entry) to 30th November, 2O2O. Accordingly, last date of commencement of classes of first-year is 01.12.20.”

AICTE has also extended the last dates for admission to the diploma lateral entry courses until November 30. Earlier, the last date for admitting students to first-year engineering courses was October 20, 2020.

AICTE has also asked the institute who have already started the first-year classes, to postpone them till December 1, 2020. For students who are due to appear for the final-year or final-semester exam, AICTE has asked its affiliated institutions to hold special classes. 

The universities has been asked to start the classes in online, or offline, or blended mode following the prescribed protocols or guidelines related to COVID-19 pandemic
