North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong Distance learning courses
North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973.
NEHU aims to spread knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement. The University has ‘A’ Grade as per NAAC Re-accreditation (2009).
The distance mode at North-Eastern Hill University is more learner-oriented. Most of the instructions are imparted through distance education methodology rather than face-to-face communication. Students are provided with printed material for both theory and practical components of the programs are supplied to the learners, which is included in the fees. The Center of Distance Education offers courses such as Certificate Course on Floriculture, General Course in Floriculture, and Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship.

About the Special Education Courses
North–Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 1st December 2005 to collaborate in promoting education for the empowerment of the persons with disability. The Centre for Distance Education has initially started the following three programmes duly approved by Academic Council for the Teacher Preparation in Special Education.
