NDA 2020 (I) Notification - National Defence Academy/Naval Academy 2020

NDA Exam 2020 (I) Notification - UPSC National Defence Academy has released notification for NDA & NA Exam (I) 2020 scheduled to be held in the month of April 2020. The NDA Exam will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 19th April, 2020 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 145th Course, and for the 107th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from 2nd January, 2021.

Eligibility Criteria for NDA (I) 2020

Nationality
 

A candidate must be unmarried male and must be :

i) a citizen of India

ii) a subject of Bhutan,

iii) a subject of Nepal

iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India

v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Age Limits

Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02nd July, 2001 and not later than 1st July, 2004 are eligible.

Physical Standards

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2020 as per guidelines given in Appendix-IV.

Educational Qualifications

For Army Wing of National Defence Academy

12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Naval Academy

12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or University.

For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian.

Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination

 

How to Apply for NDA (I) 2020 - Application Process

Candidates are required to apply online through the website upsconline.nic.in

Candidate should also have details of one photo ID viz. Aadhar Card/ Voter Card/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving License/ School Photo ID/Any other photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. The details of this photo ID will have to be provided by the candidate while filling up the online application form. The same photo ID card will also have to be uploaded with the Online Application Form. This photo ID will be used for all future referencing and the candidate is advised to carry this ID while appearing for examination/SSB.

NDA Admit Card

The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the exam.

The e-Admit Card will be made available in the UPSC website [upsc.gov.in] for being downloaded by candidates

For downloading the e-Admit Card the candidate must have his vital parameters like RID & Date of Birth or Roll No. (if received) & date of birth or name, father's name & Date of Birth available with him

No Admit Card will be sent by post

 

NDA (I) 2020 Selection Procedure

The Union Public Service Commission shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the Commission at their discretion.

Such candidates shall appear before a Services Selection Board for Intelligence and Personality Test where candidates for the Army/Navy wings of the NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy will be assessed on Officers Potentiality and those for the Air Force in addition to the above will have to qualify Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS).

Candidates with Air Force as one of the choices would also undergo CPSS if they qualify SSB and are willing.

The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only

The question papers (test booklets) of mathematics and part “b” of general ability test will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.

In the question papers, wherever necessary, questions involving the metric system of Weights and Measures only will be set.

Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write the answers for them.

The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects at the examination. The candidates are not permitted to use a calculator or Mathematical or logarithmic table for answering objective type papers (Test Booklets). They should not therefore, bring the same inside the Examination Hall.

 

Two-Stage Selection Procedure

Two-stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards.

All the candidates will be put to stage-one test on first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards. Only those candidates who qualify at stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests.

Those candidates who qualify stage II will be required to submit the Original Certificates along with one photocopy each of : (i) Original Matriculation pass certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth, (ii) Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification.

FAQ NDA and Army

Q. Is army for girls?

A. Yes, army is for girls. For female candidates, there are three ways to join Indian army. These three ways are as follows - 

  1. UPSC
  2. Non-UPSC
  3. Technical Entry.

If you are a girl and want to serve your country then you can join the Indian army without any problem. You can apply for Indian army after completing graduation through any of the above mentioned ways.

 

Q. Can girls get into the Indian army?

A. Yes, a girl can get into the Indian army by three different ways such as UPSC, Non-UPSC and Technical Entry. A woman of age between 19 to 25 years can easily apply for the Indian army. A girl can join Indian army after completing graduation.

A. NDA stands for National Defence Academy. The NDA exam is organized by UPSC. Once you clear the NDA examination you can choose any field among Army, Navy and Air Force. You can apply for NDA exam after the completion of 12th.

 

Q. How to join NDA?

A. If you want to join NDA then you must appear in the entrance examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). You can appear in the examination after your 12th. The candidate must be an unmarried male. Female candidates or married males can not appear in the NDA examination.

 

Q. How to join NDA after 10th?

A. You cannot join NDA after 10th. You must pass 12th in order to appear in NDA entrance examination. Once you clear your Class 12 examination, you can prepare yourself for the NDA Exam.

 

Q. Can Commerce students apply for NDA?

A. Yes, a commerce student can also apply for NDA (National Defence Academy) examination. Those candidates who have completed 12th from a recognized board are eligible for the NDA entrance examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The candidate must be in the age group of 16 years to 19.5 years.
