Important Dates

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: A candidate must be either (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 01st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt. of India

Age Limit

  • A candidate for this examination must not have attained the age of 32 years as on 01st August 2018, i.e. the candidate must have been born not earlier than 02nd August 1986

Upper Age Relaxation

  • The upper age limit is Relaxable; upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a SC/ST; upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to OBC; upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 01st January 1980 to the 31st December 1989; upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof; upto a maximum of five years in the case of Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 01st August 2018 and have been released; upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of 5 years Military Service as on 01st August 2018 and whose assignment has been extended beyond 5 years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on 3 months’ notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment; upto a maximum of ten years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped
  • The ad hoc Doctors appointed after 01st October 1984 in the Ministry of Railways will be granted relaxation in age to the extent of the period of service rendered by them as ad-hoc Doctors in Railways

Educational Qualification

  • For admission to the exam, a candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS Examination
  • A candidate who has appeared or has yet to appear at the final MBBS Exam may also apply. Such candidates will be admitted to the exam, if otherwise eligible but the admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation, if they do not produce proof of having passed the written and practical part of the final MBBS Exam along with the detailed application which will be required to be submitted to the Commission by the candidates who qualify on the result of the Computer based exam
  • A candidate who has yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship is educationally eligible for admission to the examination but on selection he/she will be appointed only after he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship

Physical & Medical Standards

  • Candidates must be physically and medically fit according to the physical/medical standards for the Combined Medical Services Exam 2018 as per regulations contained in Appendix III to the Rules of the exam

Fee Details

  • Candidates (Excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay of fee of Rs.200/-  either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card
  • Application who opt for "Pay by cash" mode should print the system generated Pay-in slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only
  • "Pay by cash" mode option will be de-active at 23.59 hours of 24th May 2018 i.e. one day before the closing date; however, applicants who have generated their Pay-in-slip before it is deactivated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date
  • Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other exam or selection
  • Such applicants who are unable to pay by cash on the closing date i.e. during banking hours to SBI Branch, for reason whatsoever, even if holding a valid Pay-in-slip, will have no other offline option but to opt for online Debit/Credit Card or Internet Banking Payment mode on the closing date i.e. till 06.00 P.M. of 25th May 2018

  • Selection will be made through Written Examination, Personality Test, Document Verification and Medical Examination

Scheme of Exam

  • The examination shall be conducted according to the following plan

Part-I Computer Based Examination - (500 marks)

  • The candidates will take the Computer Based Examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each Paper will be of two hours duration.

Part-II Personality Test - (100 Marks):

  • Personality test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the results of the Computer Based Examination
