Mangalore University announces Distance Education admission 2017 for UnderGraduate and Post Graduate Courses

Applications are invited by Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri for admission to Distance Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Arts (M.A) and Master of Commerce (M.Com) Programmes offered in various subjects for the academic session 2017-18


Mangalore University Correspondence Courses

Mangalore University has launched Correspondence Course Programmes as per the National Education Policy in order to reach higher education to all sections of the society.

The objectives of these programs are: (a) promote higher education through non-formal means, specifically through correspondence mode; (b) promote the concept of correct intelligence among students and teachers (c) establish networking of learners and knowledge practitioners by means of Information and Communication Tech (d) offer both conventional & innovative courses for knowledge proliferation


Courses Offered in Distance Learning Mode

For admission to the following Courses under the Distance Education Programmes of Mangalore University for the academic year 2017-18 (All Programme/Courses offered are approved by UGC, Distance Education Bureau vide)


Under Graduate Courses


(1) B.A. (3 years)


(2) B.Com (3 years)


(3) B.B.M (3 years)


Post Graduate Courses


(1) M.A. (Economics):  (2 years)


(2) M.A. (History):  (2 years)


(3) M.A. (Political Science):  (2 years)


(4) M.A. (Sociology):  (2 years)


(5) M.A. (English):  (2 years)


(6) M.A. (Kannada):  (2 years)


(7) M.Com (2 years)

For UG Programs:

A candidate who has passed the two year Pre-University examination conducted by the Pre-university Education Board in the State of Karnataka or who has passed any Diploma course of three years duly recognized by Karnataka State technical Education Board or any other exam considered as equivalent thereto by Mangalore University is eligible


A candidate who has passed 1st year or 2nd year (1st to 4th semesters) of any bachelor degree of Mangalore university is eligible for admission to 2nd or 3rd year of the respective bachelor degree as the case may be, subject to the conditions required to be imposed by the university


For PG Programs

A candidate who has passed any bachelor degree examination of Mangalore university or of any other university considered as equivalent thereto is eligible for admission to these PG programmes


Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction for B.A., B.Com., B.B.M., Certificate Courses shall be English or Kannada. However, it shall be English only for UG & PG Programmes (except to Tulu)


Selection Procedure

The admission will be based on the marks obtained by the students in the previous examination

Application Procedure

Application form with prospectus may be obtained in person from the office of the following on payment of Rs.200/- to the Account of Mangalore University in any one of the specified banks through the challan

(iii) The Co-ordinator, Centre for Distance Education, Govt. First Grade College, Thenkanidiyoor, Udupi-576101


(iv) The Director, Centre for Distance Education, Mangalore University, Shopping Complex, Mangalagangothri-574199




Application Forms & Prospectus may also be obtained by post from the Director/Co-ordinator, at the above address, by sending the Bank challan on payment of Rs.240/- or Demand Draft of any Nationalised Bank drawn in favour of "The Finance Officer, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri", payable at Mangalagangothri/Mangalore


Duly filled in application form alongwith the prescribed course fee, relevant original marks cards (SSLC, PUC/DEGREE), & 5 Nos. of passport size photos should be submitted (for admission) to any one of the (i), (ii), (iii), (iv) Centres on or before 30th September 2017


The students other than Karnataka State should submit the Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Registrar, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri by remitting the prescribed fee
