Candidates in their own interest should send their completed application forms by appropriate means well in advance of the due date. Applications reaching us after the due date are liable to be rejected/may not be processed

Based on the choices given in their forms, the list of candidates for each centre will be notified on our website and updated regularly. Each centre will shortlist candidates for counseling on the basis of their performance in the MCA 2011 online entrance test, provided they have applied for that centre, and fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned in the preceding pages and our advertisement/ notifications on our website. Counseling schedules for each centre, based on these scores, will tentatively be displayed as per dates given above, on the Institute website and notice boards at Mesra and concerned extension centres only. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. The counseling process will be held tentatively as per dates given above, at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mesra and Noida
Candidates may appear for counseling at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mesra or Noida as per their choice indicated in their application form
How to apply: To apply for the programme, eligible candidates must complete the online application form on our website and send a printout of the completed form along with two recent colour photographs (one pasted on the form and one attached by clip to the form), photocopies of all mark sheets and certificates, and a crossed demand draft for Rs 1,600/- in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, in a stout A4 size envelope by speed post/registered post/reliable courier to the office of Dean Admissions, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi-835215 positively by the due date
Write application for MCA 2011 on top of the envelope
You can use the online application form to apply for the MCA programme of the Institute at any 1 or any 2 or any 3 or any 4 or any 5 or all 6 choices of place for study centre, by clicking the appropriate check box against the names of the centres. However, you must select all your choices before you submit the form online and print the same, so that all your choices will be saved in the database. Please do not make any corrections or add any choices of centre by hand on the printout of the form, as these will not be saved to the database. However, you may enter the demand draft details by hand on the printout, if the same have not been entered online
Please do not print a blank form and fill it by hand as this will not be accepted
Incomplete applications or applications received without all required enclosures are liable to be rejected/may not be processed
Applications reaching us after the due date are liable to be rejected/ may not be processed
Candidates should keep photocopies of their completed forms for their own reference
Candidates should proceed to fill the online application form for admission to the MCA programme 2011 at BIT Mesra or its extension centres at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur and Noida, only after they satisfy themselves that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria
Form numbers: The form numbers on each online application form may be noted and cited in correspondence if required. All candidates should keep photocopies of their completed forms for their own reference
Acknowledgement of receipt and registration numbers: A postal intimation with a registration number will be sent to all eligible candidates whose properly completed application forms have been received within the stipulated time. After receipt of the printout of their duly completed form with all enclosures and crossed bank draft for Rs 1,600/-, all eligible applicants will be allotted 6-digit registration numbers and the same will be intimated to them by post as above/notified on our website. Candidates must make a note of their registration numbers carefully, as the same will be used in future notifications for counseling, selections etc
Please preserve the postal intimation which will be required if you are called for counseling
Please quote the registration number in any correspondence regarding your application. If you do not receive the postal intimation with registration number within a reasonable date after dispatch of your completed form, please contact the admissions office at Mesra by telephone or fax. On receipt of the printout of the completed form and demand draft, a copy of the Information brochure 2011 (hard copy) will be sent by courier/ speed post/registered post to those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria
Candidates will be called for counseling as per schedules to be notified in due course
Candidates who appear for counseling must carry the following to their counseling centre; a photocopy of their duly completed online form; originals of all certificates and mark sheets with set of photocopies; two recent colour photographs, identical to that enclosed with their form; photo identification (driving license, passport, PAN card, voter ID, college ID, employee identification card are acceptable)

Online entrance test for MCA 2011: The Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, will use an online entrance test for short listing candidates for admission to its 3-year (6-semester) full-time MCA 2011 programme, commencing in July 2011 at Mesra, Ranchi, and its extension centres at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur, and Noida
The MCA 2011 online entrance test will be held on 06th-07th June, 2011 at various test centres as follows
It is proposed to hold the MCA 2011 online entrance test at the following test centres; Allahabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Noida, and Ranchi provided there are sufficient number of candidates at each of the given test centres
Candidates must give two choices for first and second preference of test centre from the list of test centres above. In case the number of candidates opting for a given test centre is less than a certain minimum, the Institute reserves the right to shift candidates to the nearest alternative test centre. The final list of test centres will be notified on our website. Depending on the number of candidates at a given test centre, the test may be held up to three time slots at the centre, for example, from 9.00 to 11.00 a.m., 12.00 to 2.00 p.m., and 3.00 to 5.00 p.m.
Admit cards: Admit cards will be sent by e-mail/post to all eligible candidates whose properly completed application forms have been received within the stipulated time at the office of the Dean Admissions, BIT Mesra. Candidates will be allotted a test centre, date and time slot for the test, as above. The Institute will try to allot the test centre and date as per candidates’ preference as far as possible. However, the Institute reserves the right to shift candidates to an alternative test centre/date, based on the number of candidates for a given test centre/test centre capacity
The admit cards may also be downloaded from our website after 21st May, 2011. If a candidate is unable to download the admit card, and the hard copy of the same is also not received up to a week before the test, candidates may contact the admissions office at BIT Mesra by telephone or fax
The Institute will not be responsible for any postal delay or irregularity resulting in non receipt/ late receipt of the admit card
Candidates should occasionally visit our website http://www.bitmesra.ac.in for any updates or any other matter related to the entrance test
The Institute reserves the right not to conduct the test at a particular centre if the number of candidates for that centre is less than a certain minimum

Candidates belonging to other special categories (Physically Handicapped/ward of defence personnel killed or disabled in service/national level sportsperson/current student of BIT/ward of BIT employee) must provide photocopy of certificate in proper format from appropriate authority

Eligibility criteria for the full-time MCA Programme 2011: Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in class 10 (excluding optional subjects) with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average. Marks in class 10 to be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects)
Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in class 12 (excluding optional subjects) with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average. Marks in class 12 will be computed as average of best 5 subjects in which candidate has appeared, including English,
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification of any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a University u/s 3 of UGC
Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, govt of
India/AIU
This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education (10+2+3 system) after completing higher secondary schooling (class 12 or equivalent)
Candidates must have one of following qualifications; Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA); or B.Sc in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics; or B.Sc with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at graduate level
Candidates of B.Sc Honours must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average in their
Honours subject. Candidates of BCA and other graduate courses must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects)
Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s programme in 2011 can also apply, provided they have obtained 60% marks or equivalent (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) based on latest available grades/marks at the time of applying, and if selected can join the programme provisionally
At the time of the counseling they must bring the following; a certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating that by 30th June, 2011, they will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining their Bachelor’s degree; a certificate in original from the Principal certifying that they have obtained 60% marks or equivalent (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) based on latest available grades/marks, marks to be calculated as per item above
Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification with requisite marks above
They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks by 31st October, 2011
Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission
Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if (a) they acquired such qualifications as working professionals/ while in employment, (b) the programmes are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU, (c) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 60% marks in average
(45% for SC/ST) calculated. They must enclose photocopies of (i) work experience certificate (ii) pass certificate and mark sheets of qualifying examination with their application
Candidates with foreign diplomas should see the EdCIL website for equivalence http://www.edcil.co.in, and if required should obtain an equivalence certificate from the evaluation division of the AIU (website http://www.aiuweb.org)
In case any board/university awards grades instead of marks, the calculation of equivalent marks would be based on the procedure prescribed by the Board/University. In case a University does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100
Counseling: Based on the choices given in their forms, the list of candidates for each centre will be notified on our website and updated regularly. Each centre will shortlist candidates for counseling on the basis of their performance in the MCA 2011 online entrance test, provided they have applied for that centre, and fulfill the eligibility criteria. Counseling schedules for each centre, based on these scores, will tentatively be displayed by 15th June, 2011 on the Institute website and notice boards at Mesra and concerned extension centres only. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. The counseling process will be held tentatively between 27th-28th June, 2011 at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mesra and Noida.
Selection procedure: The Institute will use an online entrance test to shortlist candidates for the three-year full time MCA programme commencing in July 2011. Provisional selections for the MCA 2011 programme will be based on the performance of a candidate in the MCA 2011 online entrance test, provided he/she meets the minimum academic requirements. However, candidates must satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria
Each centre will make its own lists of provisionally selected candidates and waitlisted candidates after the counseling. Provisional selection lists, along with procedures for admissions, will be notified the day after the counseling, on the Institute website http://www.bitmesra.ac.in and notice boards of the Institute/ concerned extension centres only
No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. Provisionally selected candidates will be required to take admission by the dates given, failing which vacant seats may be allotted to waitlisted candidates. The list of waitlisted candidates will also be announced on the Institute website and notice boards of the Institute/concerned extension centres only. No separate intimation will be sent to candidates. Candidates must therefore see our website occasionally for updates or any other matters related to the admission procedures.
