Admission notification for distance education programme

Second post graduate diploma programme in

Sustainable Rural Development (PGDSRD)-2011

The National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) is a premier National Center of excellence in Rural Development engaged in building capacities of rural development officials, elected representatives, individuals and institutions through training, research, teaching and consultancy

The University of Hyderabad (UoH), a central university is a premier institution of post-graduate teaching and research in country

The university courses are recognized by distance education council of India

About the programme: Distance education cell (DEC) of NIRD and centre for distance education of university of Hyderabad are jointly launching their second one year programme commencing from 1st January, 2011, which covers both Academic and Practical components

It will be offered in two semesters with 35 credits

The PG Diploma will be jointly awarded by the UoH and NIRD

Special features: Printed self instructional material; web based online learning resources and proximate contact centers spread across the country

Eligibility: A graduate degree in any discipline from a UGC recognized university

Duration: 1 year

Medium of instruction: English

Programme fee: Rs 17000/- (Rs 15000/- for SC/ST/PH) to be deposited in two equal installments at the commencement of each semester

For sponsored candidates, full fee will have to be deposited at admission

Fee for NRIs and foreign nationals is $1700 to be paid at the time of admission

How to apply: The application form and information brochure can be had from programme co-ordinator, PGD-SRD, distance education cell, NIRD, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500030, Andhra Pradesh, India in person on payment of Rs 500/- (Rs 300/- for SC/ST/PH candidates) through a demand draft in favour of National Institute of Rural Development payable at Hyderabad

Request for application form by post should reach along with self addressed stamped envelope of size 12”x10” by 15th November, 2010

No application fee for NRIs and foreign nationals
